What Is the Fake Instagram DM Generator?
This free generator builds a fictional Instagram-style direct message or group chat that you can edit and export as a clean image. Choose a light or dark phone screen, set the contact or group details, then add messages with dates, photos, story replies and quoted replies. The live 375 x 812 preview updates as you type. Nothing is connected to Instagram and no real account is involved.
How to Build a Chat
Start with the Settings card. Pick Light or Dark, set the status bar time and choose One-on-One or Group. For a direct chat, add a contact name, username, verified badge and optional avatar. For a group, name the group and add up to ten members, each with a name and photo. Then open the Messages card and build the conversation one message at a time.
Photos, Story Replies and Quoted Replies
Each message can include a photo, a vertical story reply or a quote of an earlier message. Use the Reply to a story toggle to add a 9:16 story image, and the preview will show the familiar grey story bar with a reply label. If a story reply contains only emoji, it is rendered as an emoji reaction instead of a chat bubble. The Reply To menu links a message to a previous line and shows the sender and message preview above the bubble.
Light and Dark Themes
Switch between a white chat screen and Instagram-style dark mode at any time. Both themes keep the same layout: status bar, conversation header, date labels, incoming and outgoing bubbles, photo messages, story previews and the message composer. The exported image uses the same colors and spacing as the live preview.
Privacy and Local Processing
Everything runs inside your browser. Message text, names, handles and uploaded images are never sent to a server, stored in a database or shared with a third party. Uploads are read locally with the browser FileReader API, and the final image is drawn with the Canvas API. Photos remain in memory for the current page only and are cleared when you reload the page.
